How This Calculator Works
Fuel Economy mode divides the distance you traveled by the fuel you used to compute MPG (miles per US or imperial gallon), km/L, and L/100km — all four at once, converted using exact NIST/BIPM unit definitions.
Trip Cost mode works in reverse: given your vehicle's known fuel economy and the current fuel price, it calculates how much fuel the trip will use and multiplies it by the price to estimate total cost.
